"We will work together to establish 10 hubs and spoke centers in 85 taluk and district hospitals located throughout 31 districts in the state. The program's goal is to preserve the lives of people having unexpected heart attacks," stated Rao.

- Recent studies have shown that heart attacks are more common among young adults. According to a recent study, 35% of heart attack victims are in their 40s.
- Cardiac events should save as many lives as possible. They should also be treated during golden hours. The health department has taken a big step in this regard.
- The government has designated 85 district and taluk hospitals as "spoke" centers. A total of 16 super specialty hospitals including Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research have created ten hubs. "Anyone with chest pain should immediately visit a spoke center and get an ECG," the minister said.
- At spoke centers, the government will also deploy AI technology that can identify a patient's acuity within four to five minutes. Those with serious heart health conditions will receive a free tenecteplase injection, which prevents sudden cardiac death.
- Private hospitals charge Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000 per tenecteplase injection. Government hospitals will provide these injections free of cost, Rao said.
- Spoke centers are taluka-level hospitals. After primary treatment, patients are referred to 'hub centers' which are large, super-specialty hospitals where advanced medical treatments such as angiograms or angioplasty are provided.
